After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, he pursued his studies at LeMoyne Owen College and Lincoln University, before embarking on a career that would redefine music marketing. From promoting legendary artists like Sam Cooke, Nancy Wilson, and Earth, Wind & Fire, to helping launch hits like Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers’ Bustin’ Loose, Dr. Westbrooks’ influence reached far beyond Memphis. He became the first African American territory salesman at Capitol Records and later served as Director of Special Markets for CBS Records under Clive Davis—a role in which he expanded the reach of Black music globally and created opportunities for countless African American professionals in the industry. After graduating from Northwest Community College at in Senatobia MS , where she received an Associate Degree in History, and received a bachelor's degree in history of religion and a Certificate in Herbal Health from International Kingdom University in Margaret Florida and received a Master of Divinity degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia, and received an Honorary  Doctorate Degree in Theology from Elior Evangelical University in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Angaza Bible College in Nairobi , Kenya.  Originally from Rochester, New York, he relocated to Memphis during the early 1990s formative years of the city's hip-hop scene.  SMK - Scratch Machine King is an American recording rapper, DJ and record producer from Memphis, Tennessee.   SMK began releasing foundational material in the early '90s, including Killa Mix Volume 10 Outro in 1992 and his classic 1995 tape Ghetto Beats.  He  worked with numerous prominent southern and hip-hop acts, including Al Kapone, Skinny Pimp, Pastor Troy, Young Jeezy, Pimp C, and E-40.  SMK is considered one of the Godfathers of Memphis rap.  SMK is credited as a key figure in the popularization and glorification of the Memphis "Gangsta Walk", a dance style.
